The line items
- Material — 45–60% of the total. This is the number companies advertise.
- Fabrication — cutting, polishing, edge work.
- Edge profile — eased is included; ogee adds about $18/sq ft, a mitred apron about $34, a waterfall about $48.
- Cut-outs — undermount sink around $185, cooktop around $145.
- Removal — about $240 for a standard kitchen.
- Plumbing disconnect/reconnect — about $320 if you would rather not book a separate trade.
The three quotes trap
Companies that advertise the lowest per-square-foot number often exclude cut-outs, edges and removal. Ask every quote to be itemised the same way and the cheap one usually stops being the cheap one.
